Chinese Fiasco

I don’t know why I thought "36 China Town" was an OK movie. The only reason I can put that down to is that the last two movies I saw were "Pyare Mohan" and "Tom, Dick & Harry", the two of which were real bad movies. Guess I have some good knack of picking them out. Ever since my days in B’lore were numbered, I had wanted to see a real good hindi movie. That might’ve sounded like an oxymoron, but believe me I feel that it isn’t gonna happen since there is so little time and even fewer prospective options.

To start a movie with a small mist of mystery is a real good idea for a so-called thriller movie. To start it with new face Upen trying to play a Romeo wanna be is as bad an idea as his tricks to pick up. Lines like "Is your dad a thief/ terrorist" et al, ones I could not use in the 3rd grade because gals were way smarter even back then, turn you off in the first few minutes. The only saving grace is probably the eternally elegant and lovely Isha (Yeah, love her) playing the rich owner of a casino. Isha is murdered and that’s what the movie is all about. Now that’s 2 reasons why you’d have not wanted her to die.

As the murder is shone, the clock rewinds to Mumbai and enter Shahid and kareena. Both in dire need of money, come across the prize for anybody who finds Isha’s baby boy. And also come across the kid. So they take it back to the parent and get implicated for the murder of Isha.

With a whole load of suspects and with none of them speaking the truth, Inspector Akshaye has a real hard time solving the murder. Though who committed the murder was a real mystery, it’s not that difficult to deduct if you’re a mystery fan and know the formula that the least talked about suspect generally ends up being the murderer. Paresh and Payal did a decent role IMO. Payal showing her ample curves looks real good in scenes that she’s present and not acting.
Johnny is a little loud for my liking and that part gets on to Paresh when the two meet. Kareena wears only mini skirts all through the movie and her toned body really shows off. If you’re a bebo fan and like to see her and hers you might like the movie. Excuse me, even that wasn’t a reason for me to like it. Akshaye as the inspector comes off ok though his assistant and his constant nagging about his wife would get to you sooner than you think.

Would anyone be wise enough to tell Himesh to only do the music and not sing almost every song available. Even with the music, I felt it’s getting a lot repetitive. And as is usual you won’t know why the movie has those songs. Two stupid songs in the span of 10 minutes very early in the movie seriously piss you off.

Final Word: I don’t find one reason why any sane person on a normal day would want to go and watch this movie. Even if you end up in a multiplex with tickets available only for this movie, believe me it’ll be a wise choice for you to turn around and head back where you are otherwise. Else if you have too much time with nothing else to do, like where I was, and not bothered about wasting a few hundred bucks this movie will help. It’s seriously a real waste.
